You have been invited to join a Teams-site hosted by Akvaplan-niva. For some of you, the Teams-site allready shows up in Teams, for others it is not that simple. In this document we list up a few things to check if you are having problems accessing the Teams-site.
Invitations
You should have received an invitation to join the Teams-site. The email was send from Microsoft on behalf of your contact person at Akvaplan-niva. If you did not receive an invitation, please check your Outlook Junk Mail folder and other places where spam can get caught.
Logon
After following the link in the invitation email, you are asked to logon using a Microsoft-account. If you allready are a Microsoft Online user, use that account. Otherwise create a new account. It is free. In order to create a new account, you only need to provide an email address and choose a password. You activate the new account by entering the code that Microsoft send to the email address that you provided.
It is important to use the same Microsoft-account every time. Many people have multiple Microsoft-accounts without thinking about it. That may create problems. For example, if you accepted the Teams invitation while you were logged in using your hotmail-account, you cannot find the Teams site when you logg in using your work-account. If this happened, and you want to change the account-name to which the Teams-site is linked, you need to contact us (supportakvaplan.niva.no) so that we can send you a new invitation to the Teams-site.
Also keep in mind that your Microsoft-account name may be different from the email-address that you are using. This is the case for NIVA-employees.
Desktop app or online?
After you logged on successfully you are asked if you want to use Teams Online or use the Teams dektop app on your computer. The Teams desktop app is free to download and use.
Cannot find the Teams-site?
If you cannot find the Teams-site that you were invited to, first check that you are using Teams with your Akvaplan-niva guest account. Click on your avatar (your picture or initials) on the top right-hand side. If your Akvaplan-niva guest account is not showing, or if the Team is not showing under the Akvaplan-niva guest account, log out of Teams and login again.
User tip! Do you want to work with sites at your own organization and Akvaplan-niva Teams-site at the same time?
By default, you can only use one account at a time in Teams. If you change over to an Akvaplan-niva Teams-site, you cannot work with Teams hosted at your own or other organizations. This makes it difficult to use Teams calls, chats, meetings, etc at the same time. If you need access to Teams hosted at different places, open Teams for which you use a guest accounts in a web browser (teams.microsoft.com).
Still having problems?
Problems with saved passords, etc, can be solved by pasting the link from the invitation email in an incognito tab in your internet browser (Chrome shortcut: Ctrl-Shift-N).
